His first word to her was, “Run.”
Two hearts beat wildly in his chest and time seemed endless. Everything was at his finger tips, and everything was open. He could sprint with her from the beginning of the universe to the end of the world and be home in time for tea.
Not any more…
Now, he stood on solid, unyielding ground. His hand was still laced in hers, but the two hearts had to be split between them.
A grin spread on her face— an offer. An offer he almost couldn’t refuse.
Almost.
He anchored her with a pace uncharacteristically slow.
Time was so fleeting when you moved in a straight line.
With so few moments, he wanted to make them last.
